Going Green: Bore Holes and the Environment

A few years ago, I purchased a horse farm in Western Australia and started to think about how I could make my way of life most sustainable. I decided to drill a borehole on the property so I could access the groundwater and be less reliant on the public water supply. I will admit that I didn't really have a clue what I was doing. I had a friend come over, and together we spent many hours reading about surveying the ground, the different types of borehole and how to prevent contamination of the well water. I hired a contractor to complete the work, and it was a complete success. I have started this blog to encourage others to consider how they can act in an environmentally friendly way.

Climate change and continued environmental degradation poses a significant long-term threat to the wellbeing of future generations. At the same time, and as the pressure for global sustainability on local and international levels mount, business owners are becoming more and more aware that employing business or manufacturing practices that are seen to contribute to environmental destruction can result in severe financial loss. The cost of repairing damaged ecosystems, losing pro-environment customers and investors, and paying legal costs all add up, meaning that often businesses that do not prioritise environmental protection and sustainability die out themselves. Some Questions You Might Have About Oily Water and Grease Traps

Running a commercial kitchen means having to maintain grease traps. These are installed as part of the draining systems in the kitchen in order to trap oil and grease and keep these from getting into public water supplies, where they may contaminate the water and cause the need for excessive filtering and treatment. These traps need to be cleaned and emptied regularly and can cause unpleasant backups and spills when they're neglected. Read More

It is an ideal choice for rural properties with sufficient land to build a drainage field. Here are the main factors to consider when choosing the best septic treatment system. Read More
